At Capital Health, we are committed to enhancing resident well-being, combating burnout, and finding meaning in medicine. It has been noted nationally that the pressure of providing clinical care escalates physician burnout and depression. The daily demands of learning and caring for patients often leaves medical professionals struggling to find meaning in their work. The Capital Health Psychiatry Residency Program believes that when residents are woven into the fabric of our community, it promotes compassion and joy in the practice of medicine.
Wellness is a core part of our program culture. Residents will participate in annual retreats coordinated by both the GME Office and the Psychiatry Residency Program. In addition, there will be periodic wellness initiatives, social gatherings, and resident-led activities throughout the year.
The program promotes a transparent and responsive culture. Residents can bring concerns to program leadership, the GME office, or the Resident Forum without fear of retaliation. Formal processes for grievance resolution follow ACGME and institutional policies.
Residents in our program will have a unique opportunity to help shape the program’s identity and traditions. Faculty and leadership are deeply invested in providing mentorship, ensuring clinical balance, and incorporating resident feedback into ongoing development. You’ll be part of a collaborative effort to build a program rooted in excellence, support, and innovation.
