Program curriculum is modeled by the requirements set by the ACGME. The curriculum is designed to be consistent with the program’s aims and demonstrate a systematic approach, with attention to evidence-based principles and scientific literature, standards of psychiatric profession and developmental appropriateness for our learners.
The Psychiatry Residency curriculum consists of 13 four-week blocks. During the one-year program, residents will meet the following requirements:
- During the PG1 year, residents spend 3 blocks on Internal Medicine, 1 block on Emergency Medicine, 2 blocks on Neurology, and the rest of the time on various Psychiatry rotations.
- During the PG2 year, residents spend 1 block on a research project and 12 blocks on various Psychiatry rotations. At least 2 of these blocks will be dedicated to Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, 1 block in Addiction, 1 block in Geriatrics and 1 block in Forensics.
- As a PGY3, residents spend all 13 blocks dedicated to their outpatient clinics.
