Transitional Year Residency Program

A message from the Program Director

Ekaterina Vypritskaya, MD, FACPWelcome to the Capital Health Transitional Year Website!

As the Program Director, I am delighted to introduce you to our dynamic and supportive learning environment. Capital Health has a long-standing tradition of commitment to Graduate Medical Education. Our program is designed to provide a nurturing and enriching environment, where you'll have the opportunity to work with a diverse patient population, engage in innovative research, build lasting professional relationships, and advance your understanding of lifelong self-care and well-being concepts.

We are committed to helping you achieve your career goals and become a compassionate, skilled physician. We look forward to supporting you during this exciting year of building a strong foundation in medicine, with a focus on a team-based approach and patient-centered care before you move on to your advanced training next year.

Our program is fully accredited by the ACGME and offers 13 residency spots each year. Our residents benefit from working closely not only with our Internal Medicine program, which currently has 75 residents, but also with our Family Medicine, Emergency Medicine, OB-GYN, and soon-to-launch Psychiatry residency programs.

Capital Health is a two-hospital system located in Mercer County, New Jersey, featuring both an urban and a suburban hospital with a combined capacity of around 458 beds. As a trauma center, cardiovascular surgical center, regional crisis center, stroke center, and comprehensive cancer center, we provide a wide range of medical specialties and serve over 140,000 patients annually through our extensive regional ambulatory network. Hopewell hospital will be the main teaching site, with some elective rotations available at our Regional Medical Center.

Thank you for your interest in our program! Please feel free to reach out with any questions or for further clarification. We are excited to support you on your medical journey!
