In June 2016, the parents of J. Patrick Barnes (founders of the DAISY Foundation) visited Capital Health Medical Center – Hopewell to present the DAISY Award firsthand to Betty Woods, LPN, Gastroenterology/Endoscopy Unit. During the ceremony, they described to attendees what compelled them to create the DAISY Award, which recognizes nurses for their compassion and dedication demonstrated on the job every day. They also visited with previous honorees Dahlia Guzik, RN, Newborn Nursery, Capital Health Medical Center – Hopewell and Theresa Nixon, BSN, RN, Med/Surg (Outerbridge I), Capital Health Regional Medical Center.
