Dr. Frederick SailesFREDERICK C. SAILES, MD
Medical Director, Center for Wound Management and Hyperbaric Medicine

Dr. Sailes is medical director of the Capital Health Center for Wound Management and Hyperbaric Medicine, located at Capital Health Medical Center – Hopewell. In this role, he leads a team of specialty trained physicians (certified wound specialists) and wound/ostomy care nurses in providing inpatient consultation and outpatient wound care for patients with acute burns, chronic wounds, hearing loss due to inner ear damage, chronic bone infection, necrotizing fasciitis (a bacterial infection also known as flesh-eating disease), soft tissue radiation injury (a side effect of radiation therapy for tumors), and related conditions. In addition to Capital Health Medical Center – Hopewell, Dr. Sailes provides wound care consultations at Capital Health Regional Medical Center in Trenton, as well as skilled nursing facilities and rehabilitation centers throughout the region.

Dr. Sailes is is a certified wound specialist physician (CWSP) from the American Board of Wound Management and is certified in hyperbaric oxygen therapy. He received his medical degree from Morehouse School of Medicine in Atlanta, GA and completed a residency in general surgery at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia, PA. He completed fellowship training in hand surgery and a plastic surgery residency at University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson, MS. Dr. Sailes also completed fellowship training in aesthetic and ocuplastic surgery at the Few Institute for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery in Chicago, IL.

Before joining Capital Health, Dr. Sailes medical director for another wound management and hyperbaric medicine program in the greater Bucks County region before joining Capital Health. He has published and presented research in a number of medical journals and medical society conferences and is a member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, the American College of Surgeons, and the American Society for Surgery of the Hand.

Dr. Patrick AufieroPatrick Aufiero, MD
Dr. Patrick Aufiero is board certified in infectious disease. He received his medical degree from St. George’s University in Grenada, West Indies. Dr. Aufiero completed an internship and residency in infectious disease at St. Michael’s Medical Center in Newark, NJ. He is a founding member of the Capital Health Center for Wound Management and Hyperbaric Medicine. He is a fellow of the American Professional Wound Care Association.

 

 


 

 

Dr. Robert GuntherRobert Gunther, DPM
Dr. Robert Gunther is a board certified podiatric surgeon. He received his doctorate degree in podiatric medicine from Ohio College of Podiatric Medicine in Independence, OH and completed a residency in podiatry surgery and medicine at the Center City Hospital of the Graduate Hospital in Philadelphia, PA. He is a founding member of the Capital Health Center for Wound Management and Hyperbaric Medicine. He is a fellow of the American Professional Wound Care Association.

 

 

 

 

Dr. Daniel LeeDaniel J. Lee, MD
Dr. Daniel Lee is a board certified vascular and general surgeon. He received his medical degree from Mt. Sinai School of Medicine, NY. Dr. Lee completed a residency in general surgery at Hahnemann University Hospital in Philadelphia, PA, and completed his fellowships in research and clinical vascular surgery at Allegheny University Hospital. He is a fellow of the American Professional Wound Care Association. Dr. Lee is the director of the Vascular Lab at Capital Health and former director of the Center for Wound Management.

 

 

 

 

Dr. Steven MaffeiSteven A. Maffei, DPM
Dr. Steven Maffei is a board certified podiatric orthopaedic surgeon. He received his doctorate degree in podiatric medicine from Pennsylvania College of Podiatric Medicine in Philadelphia, PA and completed a podiatric surgery residency and podiatric infectious disease fellowship at St. Michael’s Medical Center. He is a founding member of the Capital Health Center for Wound Management and Hyperbaric Medicine. He is a fellow of the American Professional Wound Care Association.

 

 

 

 

Dr. Marc WhitmanMarc Whitman, MD
Dr. Marc Whitman is board certified in infectious disease and internal medicine. He received his medical degree from Robert Wood Johnson Medical School in Piscataway, NJ. He completed an infectious disease fellowship at the Medical College of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, PA.

 

 

 

 

HYPERBARIC MEDICINE

Dr. Manish GugnaniManish Gugnani, MD, FCCP
Dr. Manish Gugnani received his medical degree from University of Nigeria and completed his residency at State University of New York, Lutheran Medical Center, Brooklyn, NY. He is board certified in sleep medicine, pulmonary medicine, internal medicine, and critical care medicine. He is also a diplomate of the American Board of Sleep Medicine.

 

 

 

Hari Brundavanam, MD
Dr. Hari Brundavanam is a critical care pulmonologist who is board certified in critical care medicine. He received his medical degree from North Shore Medical Center in Salem, MA, where he also completed his residency in internal medicine. Dr. Brundavanam completed fellowship training in critical care medicine at the University of Miami School of Medicine in Miami. FL. He is fluent in Hindi and Telugu.

 

Stephen Tieku, MD
Dr. Stephen Tieku received his medical degree from the University of Ghana, Accra, Ghana and completed his residency at St. Michael’s Medical Center in Newark, NJ. He is board certified in critical care medicine and pulmonary disease.
