Patrick Aufiero, MD
Dr. Patrick Aufiero is board certified in infectious disease. Dr. Aufiero completed a transitional year, internal medicine residency and infectious disease fellowship at St. Michael’s Medical Center in Newark, NJ (1985-1991). He is a founding member of the Capital Health Center for Wound Management & Hyperbaric Medicine. He is a fellow of the American Professional Wound Care Association. He is a member of the Academy of Physician in Wound Healing and Undersea and Hyperbaric Medical Society. Dr. Aufiero is certified to deliver hyperbaric oxygen therapy.
Marc Whitman, MD
Dr. Marc Whitman is board certified in infectious disease. He received his medical degree from Robert Wood Johnson Medical School in Piscataway, NJ. He completed an infectious disease fellowship at the Medical College of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, PA. Dr. Whitman is chairman of the Infection Prevention Department and the hospital epidemiologist at Capital Health. He is certified to deliver hyperbaric oxygen therapy.
Louis Fares, MD
Dr. Fares is board certified in general surgery and has more than 40 years of experience in the surgical field. He completed his general surgery residency at St. Barnabas Medical Center in Livingston, New Jersey, where he was both chief resident and administrative chief. He received his medical degree from the University of Santo Tomas Medical School in Manila, Philippines.
Dr. Fares was in private practice for 30 years prior to working at St. Francis Medical Center in Trenton, New Jersey. During his time at St. Francis, he was president of the medical staff for eight years, the longest serving chairman of the Department of Surgery for 20 years and the surgical director of the Advanced Wound Center for almost a decade. He has been on staff at Capital Health since 1992.
Throughout his distinguished medical career, Dr. Fares was the program director of the Surgical Residency Program at St. Francis Medical Center and is a clinical associate professor of Surgery at St. George’s Medical School. He has been honored to be president of the Mercer County Medical Society as well as the chairman of the board of trustees of the Urban League of Metropolitan Trenton.
In his spare time, Dr. Fares is a team surgeon for the Trenton Thunder baseball club.
Robert Gunther, DPM
Dr. Robert Gunther is a board certified podiatric surgeon. He received his doctorate degree in podiatric medicine from Kent State University, College of Podiatric Medicine in Independence, OH and completed a residency in podiatric surgery and medicine at the Center City Hospital of the Graduate Hospital in Philadelphia, PA. He is a founding member of the Capital Health Center for Wound Management & Hyperbaric Medicine. He is a fellow of the Academy of Physicians in Wound Healing.
Steven A. Maffei, DPM
Dr. Steven Maffei is a board certified in podiatric surgery and orthopaedics. He received his degree in podiatric medicine from Pennsylvania College of Podiatric Medicine in Philadelphia, PA. He completed his podiatric surgery residency program and his podiatric infectious disease fellowship at St. Michael’s Medical Center in Newark, NJ, where he served as chief resident of Podiatry his senior year. Dr. Maffei has shared his extensive knowledge through offering more than 350 lectures to various medical and community groups. He is also a founding member of the Capital Health Center for Wound Management & Hyperbaric Medicine and a fellow of the American Professional Wound Care Association.
Manish Gugnani, MD, FCCP
Dr. Manish Gugnani received his medical degree from University of Nigeria and completed his residency at State University of New York, Lutheran Medical Center, Brooklyn, NY. He is board certified in sleep medicine, pulmonary medicine, internal medicine, and critical care medicine. He is also a diplomate of the American Board of Sleep Medicine. Dr. Gugnani is certified to deliver hyperbaric oxygen therapy.
Hari Brundavanam, MD
Dr. Hari Brundavanam is board certified in critical care and internal medicine. He received his medical degree from Gandhi Medical College in Hyderabad, India. Dr. Brundavanam completed his residency in internal medicine at North Shore Medical Center in Salem, MA., and completed fellowship training in critical care medicine at the University of Miami School of Medicine in Miami, FL. He is fluent in Hindi and Telugu. Dr. Brundavanam is certified to deliver hyperbaric oxygen therapy.
