Auxiliary Service Projects and Grants

Grants/Health Initiatives

The following are the grants/health initiatives the Capital Health Auxiliary supports. They help enrich patient experience and the communities we serve!

Cardiac Rehab
Provide emotional and physical support to relieve anxiety following a cardiac event.

Diabetes Education
Provide uninsured or underinsured patients with glucose monitoring equipment and education.

Hypertension Management
Provide education and equipment to self-monitor blood pressure and improve medication adherence.

Healing Hands Art Cart
Art has been shown to ease anxiety in patients which promotes with healing.

Comfort Cart & Kits
Helps relieve anxiety and improve patient experience while at the hospital.

Safe Sleep Books
Books on safe sleep practices which are distributed to new patients.

RISE/Second Victim
24/7 hotline/volunteer peer support for Capital Health employees during stressful work-related events.

Tea for the Soul
Opportunity for staff to momentarily unwind from stressful day at work so they can help with patient care.

Service Projects

The following are the service projects of the Capital Health Auxiliary.

Mobile Library
Hands out books, crosswords, and magazines to patients.

Toy Closet
Collect toys for children being treated in the Pediatric ER and Inpatient Unit to ease anxiety and fear of a hospital visit.

Care Packs for Kids
Provides backpacks filled with toiletries, school supplies, comfort items, activity books and games, for children who have been displaced from their homes.

Cookie Donation Program
Collects cookies and other snacks as a special treat for cancer patients.

Farmers Market
Hosts farmers markets every summer to educate patients about the benefits of eating fresh vegetables and fruits, instill good nutritional habits which ultimately impacts health outcomes.

Clothes 4 Change
Provides gently used clothing free of charge to families in need who are being treated through the Capital Health Family Health Center in Trenton.

Tales for Tiny Tots Literacy Program
Every baby being born at Capital Health is given a copy of “I will Talk to You, Little one,” imprinted with their footprint, not only as a keepsake, but also as their introduction to the wonderful world of reading.
