Shamiese B. Dunagan, MS

Program Coordinator, Comm.

Shamiese Dunagan is a dedicated health care and nonprofit professional currently serving as program coordinator for Capital Health Institute for Urban Care, where she oversees the Cardiac Opportunities for Resilience and Empowerment (CORE) Program. In this role, Shamiese leads efforts to support individuals living with heart conditions through community engagement, education, and access to care resources designed to improve health outcomes and quality of life.

Before joining Capital Health Institute for Urban Care, Shamiese worked as a certified psychiatric screener in the Emergency Crisis Department at Capital Health Regional Medical Center. Her experience included conducting biopsychosocial assessments, evaluating suicidality, providing crisis intervention, and connecting individuals and families with critical mental health and community support services. Shamiese also served as a case manager/care coordinator at Woods System of Care, where she developed extensive experience supporting individuals with complex behavioral and health care needs.

Shamiese holds a Master of Science degree in nonprofit leadership and population health management from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine (PCOM) and a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Bloomsburg (now Commonwealth) University of Pennsylvania. She is a member of both the Psi Chi International Honor Society in Psychology and the Chi Alpha Epsilon Honor Society for Academic Achievement.

Passionate about serving others and strengthening communities, Shamiese brings compassion, leadership, and advocacy to every aspect of her work. Outside of her professional career, she enjoys decorating, party planning, and traveling with her husband, while remaining deeply connected to her large, close-knit family.
