Special Services for Patients

Capital Health offers a variety of special services to make your stay as pleasant and comfortable as possible. Included among them are the following services:

Volunteers

Volunteers perform a wide range of duties at both Capital Health Medical Center - Hopewell and Capital Health Regional Medical Center. Some enjoy direct contact with patients and families, while others assist professional staff in ways that involve little patient contact. When you are at Capital Health you may see volunteers in many different roles throughout the hospitals.

Capital Health offers a Telecommunication Device for the Deaf (TDD) as well as access to the language line, which provides translation in 150 languages. Your nurse will be happy to assist you.

Interpreters

Capital Health has access to interpreters for a number of foreign languages should a patient require it. Please ask a member of your health care team for assistance.

Latino Programs

As part of its efforts to become the Latino health care destination of choice, Capital Health has created Programme Enlace and CUNA to help link the Latino community with the medical resources and services available at Capital Health.

Programme Enlace provides equal, easy and better access to health care services for the Latino population.

Co-sponsored by Capital Health, the Children’s Home Society of NJ and the Puerto Rican Community Day Care Center, Inc., CUNA provides a support system for Latino mothers, guiding them through pregnancy, delivery and the first years of their baby’s life.

Because Capital Health is dedicated to promoting a healthy lifestyle, we encourage you to take this opportunity to let us help you beat your nicotine addiction. Smoking is prohibited at Capital Health, and we have trained counselors who will be glad to meet with you to discuss your quitting options. Please ask your nurse to arrange for a counselor to visit you.

Patient Education Television

In addition, Capital Health offers patient education television stations that feature a number of health-related topics. If you do not have the patient education television schedule in your room, please speak with a member of your health care team.
