Frequently Asked Questions

I have copies of my transcripts, is that acceptable?

Copies of transcripts can be used for advisement, but official transcripts must be received by application deadline.

What is considered an official transcript?

Official transcripts are sent by a school’s registrar. For security purposes, we cannot accept transcripts mailed, faxed, or emailed by you or anyone other than the registrar. If anything on your transcript indicates that it was issued to the student, picked up by you, or mailed to any address other than Capital Health School of Nursing – Regional Medical Center, your transcript will be rejected and you will need to send a new one.

Please note that electronic transcripts are not the same as emailed transcripts. Electronic transcripts are official transcripts sent by a school’s registrar through Parchment or the National Student Clearinghouse.

What is the location of the clinical sites?

Most clinical experiences are scheduled at Capital Health. Some may be scheduled at other health care facilities.

May I have prerequisite courses in-progress when I apply?

All pre-requisite courses must be completed by the end of the Summer I term.

Does any of my prerequisite coursework expire?

Science and Math Course Requirements: Science courses must be less than 5 years old at time of enrollment, and math courses must be less than 10 years old at time of enrollment in the School of Nursing.

Can I defer my acceptance to another year if I am unable to attend right now?

Yes. Your application is good for three years. Math and science courses may expire during the three years.

Do you accept transfer credits?

Prerequisite courses from accredited colleges may be transferred. Transcripts must be provided to the registrar for evaluation.

Capital Health School of Nursing – Regional Medical Center does not accept nursing course transfer credits.

What time are classes offered?

Capital Health School of Nursing – Regional Medical Center is a day program. Lecture, lab, and clinical days and times will vary from semester to semester. Students may be required to arrive at the clinical site by 6:30 a.m. or to attend an afternoon clinical that may not be dismissed until 7 p.m. or later. Clinical experiences may be scheduled on weekends.

Can I work full-time and still attend the program?

Capital Health School of Nursing – Regional Medical Center programs are intensive, and it is highly recommended that students work no more than 20 hours while attending the program. Any work schedules that students have must be arranged around the designated days and times for the lectures, labs, and clinical rotations for the program.

Students are not permitted to work overnight prior to any clinical experience.
