Jacob J. Barnes, III, MS, MBADirector of Operations, Institute for Urban Care

As Director of Operations, Jacob leads strategic, system-wide initiatives to align and expand services for the community. In this role, he focuses on optimizing care delivery for underserved populations and advancing health equity outcomes. Under his leadership, the IUC team actively engages local residents, leverages data, and develops innovative programs to enhance the well-being of the Trenton community.

Previously, Jacob was the IUC Manager of Operations, overseeing the institute's diverse programs, grants, and strategic initiatives. Prior to joining Capital Health, he held multiple leadership roles at the Woods System of Care, including serving as the Assistant Director of Community Residences at Beechwood Neuro-Rehab.

Jacob brings more than two decades of diverse expertise to his role, spanning healthcare administration, operations, finance, organizational leadership, grant administration, case management, and program planning. He also possesses extensive experience in designing, implementing, and managing population health programs.

He holds a Master of Science in Non-Profit Leadership and Population Health Management from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine, a Master of Business Administration from Strayer University, and a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration (accounting and management) from African Methodist Episcopal University.

Additionally, Jacob holds several specialized professional credentials, including an advanced diploma in IT Project Management from the APTECH Institute in India, a certificate in Case Management from Rutgers University, and a certificate in Personal Care Home Administration from Penn State University. Reflecting his academic excellence and leadership, he is a dedicated member of both the Golden Key International Honor Society and Psi Chi.
