Dr. Muhammad Amir is a transplant hepatologist and gastroenterologist who is quadruple board certified in transplant hepatology, gastroenterology, internal medicine, and obesity medicine. His clinical interests include chronic liver diseases, portal hypertension and liver tumors.
Dr. Amir completed fellowship training in gastroenterology and transplant hepatology at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia. He completed his residency in internal medicine at the Icahn School of Medicine in Bronx, New York, and received his medical degree from the University of Health Sciences in Lahore, Pakistan.
Prior to joining Capital Health, Dr. Amir worked as a transplant hepatologist/gastroenterologist at Nazih Zuhdi Transplant Institute in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma for more than five years. During this time, he served as adjunct assistant professor of medicine at Oklahoma State University. He has conducted extensive basic science research in the areas of acute liver injury, liver failure, and non-alcoholic fatty liver disease.
Dr. Amir is a member of the American Association for the Study of Liver Diseases, the European Association for the Study of the Liver, the American College of Physicians, and the American Gastroenterological Association. He is fluent in Hindi, Urdu, and Punjabi.
