Amerigroup New Jersey

New Jersey - January 31, 2022 - Amerigroup New Jersey today announced that Capital Health, one of the state's leaders in providing progressive, quality health and medical care, had joined its network.

"With Capital Health, we can serve more residents in Trenton and the rest of Mercer County," said Amerigroup New Jersey Medicaid Plan President Teresa Hursey. "We estimate that partnership will improve health care access and quality for more than 40,000 low-income residents," she added.

An award-winning hospital system, Capital Health serves as a Level II regional trauma center, comprehensive stroke center, regional perinatal center (including a Level III NICU), and emergency mental health screening center.

In addition, the System offers the region's first and most experienced Pediatric Emergency Department and, most recently, New Jersey's first Autism-Friendly Pediatric Emergency Department, along with numerous other innovative programs.

“Capital Health is pleased to be a provider for Amerigroup New Jersey participants,” said Al Maghazehe, president and CEO of Capital Health. “Our community-based approach to improving the health and wellbeing of residents in the Mercer County region aligns well with their commitment to expanding access to care among lower-income families. This partnership is good for both of our organizations, but more importantly, it is great news for many of the people we serve.”
