Social Skills Group Therapy for Children (Ages 7 - 9)

Does your child experience difficulty understanding emotions or interacting with others? If so, our 12-week social skills group for children ages 7 - 9 may be a good fit.

The goal of our social skills group is to assist children to make optimal gains in basic skills such as attention, impulse regulation, social reciprocity, and other socially appropriate skills (e.g., eye contact, tone of voice). For children who may have limited opportunities to engage in natural play activities with peers, our social skills group is an excellent avenue to help increase their self-esteem and self-efficacy.

Children with ADHD, in the autism spectrum, experiencing social difficulties, and anxiety disorders may be appropriate for the group. Children are highly motivated, and most make significant self-regulatory and social improvements. This group will focus on developing skills including, but not limited to:

  • Adaptive functioning skills (Social, self-care, communication, self-care, communication, self-direction, etc.)
  • Communication skills (verbal & non-verbal)
  • Making friends & interacting with peers
  • Understanding thoughts/emotion/beliefs of others
  • Social problem-solving and reasoning
