Capital Health offers support group meetings for people with cancer and their families. We can help you find an appropriate group to meet your needs. All groups are currently being held virtually using Zoom until it is safe to resume in-person meetings.
Breast Cancer Survivors Support Group
Joining a cancer support group can be important part of survivorship. You can connect with others feeling and experiencing things similar to you. Trish Tatrai, breast navigator and clinical manager of Oncology at Capital Health, will guide discussions designed to provide education and emotional support to assist you wherever you are in your breast cancer journey. Discussions include strategies on how to manage your diagnosis, treatments, treatment side-effects, survivorship and day-to-day challenges you may be facing.
This group is held on the second Tuesday of every month from 6 - 7:30 p.m. and on the third Tuesday of every month from 6 - 7:30. This group is open to anyone who has received a breast cancer diagnosis, regardless of where you have received your treatment.
For more information, contact Trish Tatrai, breast navigator and clinical manager of Oncology, at 609-537-7485 or [email protected] or contact Aileen Diccion, breast health nurse navigator, at 609-303-4503 or [email protected].
Brain Tumor Support Group
This support group is for anyone diagnosed with or surviving from a brain tumor, along with their care partners, loved ones, and friends. Members will be encouraged to share their experiences, form friendships, and provide emotional support for one another. We will also have experts in the field join us quarterly for guest presentations. We will have guest speakers on different topics once every three months. This group is held on the third Thursday of every month from 3 - 4:30 p.m.
Pancreatic Cancer Support Group
A pancreatic cancer diagnosis can leave you feeling overwhelmed with questions about what lies ahead. Wherever you are in your journey, a support group can provide much needed emotional and educational support.
Led by a licensed clinical social worker, our pancreatic cancer support group provides an opportunity to connect with others with those who understand what you are going through. Each month, a different guest co-facilitator helps you navigate the physical, mental, and emotional challenges that can arise. These specialized facilitators include a peer survivor, financial navigator, oncology dietitian, gastrointestinal nurse navigator, palliative care provider, and surgical nurse practitioner.
This group is held on the third Thursday of every month from 5 - 6:30 p.m. and is open to anyone with pancreatic cancer, regardless of where you are receiving your treatment.
