A Multi-Specialty Approach to Award-Winning Care
At Capital Health Center for Oncology, we’re assembling the most highly qualifed medical experts to help patients fight cancer and other related conditions. Our team of physicians specialize in treating the most complex cases, so that instead of traveling to the city you can stay closer to home. And because Capital Health has achieved Magnet® recognition for Excellence in Nursing Service from the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) three consecutive times (something that only a select few hospitals in the world have achieved), you can be sure that the care you receive from our nurses is truly world-class.
For these reasons, our center is a two-time recipient of the prestigious Outstanding Achievement Award from the American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer (CoC). The CoC also bestowed its highest accreditation for excellence to us for our cancer prevention, treatment and education programs—the Three-Year Approval with Commendation. Our Radiation Oncology Deparment is also accredited by the American College of Radiology (ACR), which was awarded to us for our achievement of high practice standards in image quality, personnel qualifications, adequacy of facility equipment, quality control procedures, and quality assurance programs after a peer-review evaluation.
On the Cutting Edge of Technology
Our technology places us at the forefront of the fight against cancer by providing a wider range of treatment options than any other hospital in the region. Tumors previously diagnosed as inoperable can be targeted with pinpoint accuracy using CyberKnife® without harming surrounding healthy tissue. There’s no incision, no pain, and no recovery time. Patients return to their daily routine immediately following treatment. And therapy can be completed in as few as four visits instead of the 40 treatments required with traditional radiation. We were the first hospital in the region to offer the da Vinci® Surgical System, which provides our surgeons with greater dexterity, vision, and precision than conventional open surgery, all with incisions the size of a dime.
And now we're proud to offer the TrueBeam™ Linear Accelerator. As the only hospital between northern New Jersey and Baltimore to offer the latest, state-of-the-art linear accelerator available, our physicians and multidisciplinary teams have the ability to manage challenging cancers with unparalleled ease and precision anywhere in the body, including the lung, liver, prostate, abdomen, pelvis, breast, head and neck. It can perform traditional 3D conformal radiation therapy, intensity modulated radiation therapy (IMRT), RapidArc® radiotherapy, and stereotactic radiosurgery.
The design of the new Capital Health Medical Center - Hopewell allows many of our physicians to have offices in the same building that their patients receive treatment or get their testing done. Our new location makes keeping your appointments easier because most, if not all, of your appointments can be made in the same location—whether your scheduling a follow-up appointment with a specialist, receiving treatment or having a test done.
