Program Overview

The Stroke & Cerebrovascular Care Conference is an education program which fulfills the ongoing need of physicians, nurses and allied health professionals to remain current on the assessment and treatment of acute ischemic stroke, cerebral aneurysms and many acute neurovascular processes.

Our objective is to improve the delivery of care for patients by improving the performance of practicing physicians and other health care professionals as they care for patients with neurovascular disease. The latest treatment for acute stroke, aneurysms and vascular malformations including advances in medical,
surgical and endovascular techniques will be discussed using didactic lectures, case presentations, audience polling and participation to present new neurovascular data and discuss challenging clinical cases. Regional
and national faculty will present and discuss both traditional and advanced treatments as well as management strategies.

Stroke and cerebrovascular care has seen important changes over the last year. Join us at this year's conference to learn more about what the addition of Mobile Stroke Units mean for the rapid diagnosis and treatment of stroke. Also learn more about the new window for endovascular intervention. In addition, hear from experts around the country on critical care management for neuroscience patients, effective surgical interventions for aneurysms and AVMs, and learn more about the most common medical malpractice issues that arise in the area of stroke care.

We are delighted to have Adam Greenberg as the guest speaker during our Thursday evening Welcome Reception. If there’s ever a person who epitomizes perseverance, it’s Adam Greenberg, famous for the one pitch that changed his life forever. A 92 mile-an-hour first-pitch fastball to the back of the head on his major league debut with the Chicago Cubs gave Adam the record for being one of only two players in history to have an official at-bat without ever taking the field.

Our keynote speaker on Friday afternoon is Dr. Felipe Albuquerque, director of Endovascular Neurosurgery at Barrow Neurological Institute in Phoenix, Arizona. Dr. Albuquerque leads a nationally recognized comprehensive clinical practice and fellowship program at the BNI, where he remains active in academic neurosurgery as the Editor-In-Chief of the Journal of Neurointerventional Surgery (JNIS) and involved in the publication of more than 300 peer-reviewed manuscripts, 50 book chapters/reviews, and presentation of more than 250 lectures worldwide.

Target Audience

The program will benefit physicians, advanced practitioners, nurses, residents, and other clinicians in the specialties of neurology, neurosurgery, emergency medicine, critical care medicine, internal medicine, family medicine and primary care.
