Vice President for Finance & Treasurer Emeritus
Julie Karns served as vice president for Finance and treasurer at Rider University from 1994 to 2018. She served as a member of the President's Cabinet, with responsibility for Rider's financial and legal affairs, facilities management, auxiliary services and information technologies. Karns was also responsible for management of the University's human resources functions, including recruitment, staff development, compensation and benefits, and labor relations.
Karns served on the Board of the Eastern Association of College and University Business Officers (EACUBO) and currently chairs EACUBO's New Jersey Area Programming Council. She also represented Rider on the National Association of College and University Business Officer's Comprehensive and Doctoral Institutions Council and continues to serve as a Middle States Commission on Higher Education accreditation team member.
Prior to joining Rider, Karns served as vice president for Finance and Administration at Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, New York. She began her career in public accounting, with KPMG Peat Marwick. An alumna of Transylvania University in Lexington, Kentucky, she is a certified public accountant.
