The Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit
Capital Health is celebrating the Grand Opening of its expanded and renovated Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at the home of Mercer County's only Regional Perinatal Center.Capital Health NICU named a Center of Excellence consistently for respiratory outcomes by the Vermont Oxford Neonatal Network (VONN), a neonatal network and multi-national database of which Capital Health is one of 300 participating NICUs.
The VONN has requested the Capital Health NICU serve as a benchmarking center for particular areas of neonatal management, designating the NICU as a center for other facilities to use as a model.
The center includes:
- 24/7 in-house obstetrical, neonatal, anesthesiology and midwifery coverage
- 4 board-certified neonatologists on staff
- 1 neonatal nurse practitioner
- 30 bassinets in NICU
- 15 Intensive Care bassinets
- 15 Intermediate bassinets
