Women looking for a comprehensive breast program that is nationally recognized, but also convenient, can find all they are looking for at Capital Health’s Center for Comprehensive Breast Care.

Our Center for Comprehensive Breast Care, located at Capital Heath Medical Center – Hopewell, has been granted a three-year/full accreditation designation from the National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers (NAPBC), a program administered by the American College of Surgeons. This is the second consecutive NAPBC accreditation for our Center.

“Earning our second straight accreditation from the NAPBC is a remarkable accomplishment,” said Al Maghazehe, president and CEO of Capital Health. “For a program that provides a wide range of breast care services under one roof, including annual breast screenings, diagnosis, treatment, and support, this recognition aligns strongly with our mission to provide the most advanced, high quality, personalized care in our region.”

“We are extremely proud of this designation, which represents the hard work and efforts of all of our physicians, nurses and other members of our breast care team. Since our initial accreditation in 2014, our focus has been, and will continue to be, to treat the whole person, not just the disease. This reaccreditation demonstrates our continued commitment to this guiding principle, as well as the high quality standards of the NAPBC,” said Dr. Lisa Allen, fellowship trained breast surgeon and director of the Capital Health Center for Comprehensive Breast Care.

Accreditation by the NAPBC is only given to those centers that voluntarily commit to provide the highest level of quality breast care and undergo a rigorous evaluation process and review of their performance. During the survey process, our Center for Comprehensive Breast Care demonstrated compliance with standards established by the NAPBC for treating women who are diagnosed with the full spectrum of breast disease. The standards include proficiency in center leadership, clinical management, research, community outreach, professional education, and quality improvement.

Our Center for Comprehensive Breast Care provides a complete range of services, from annual screenings and advanced diagnostics to genetic testing, leading-edge oncology care and a high risk breast cancer program, all located at the state-of-the-art Capital Health Medical Center – Hopewell. Our Center includes the latest medical technology and physicians who are highly trained and have experience with treating a variety of breast-related conditions, either malignant in nature (cancerous) or benign. Our patient-centered environment even includes a spa with a special program for oncology patients and complimentary concierge services to meet nonclinical needs.

The Center offers the full scope of breast care, from cancer to cysts, abscesses, lesions, breast pain and other breast-related disorders. Breast cancer patients are cared for by a team that collaborates closely to ensure they receive the most effective treatment. Depending on the treatment plan, that team could include a breast surgeon, general surgeon, radiologist, medical oncologist, radiation oncologist, plastic surgeon, rehabilitation services, and more. Every patient also has a certified personal breast health navigator, a specially trained oncology nurse who will be by your side from an initial diagnosis through every phase of treatment.

Receiving care at an NAPBC-accredited center like our Center for Comprehensive Breast Care ensures that a patient will have access to:

  • Comprehensive care, including a full range of state-of-the-art services
  • A multidisciplinary team approach to coordinate the best treatment options
  • Information about ongoing clinical trials and new treatment options
  • And, most importantly, quality breast care close to home

The NAPBC is a consortium of professional organizations dedicated to the improvement of the quality of care and monitoring of outcomes of patients with diseases of the breast. This mission is pursued through standard setting, scientific validation, and patient and professional education. Its board membership includes professionals from 20 national organizations that reflect the full spectrum of breast care.
