We’re So Vein

Spider and varicose veins are often accepted as a part of the aging process. While these conditions are common, patients should know when to seek treatment.

“While sometimes regular exercise, elevating your legs or avoiding sitting or standing for extended periods can help reduce the likelihood of spider and varicose veins, untreated cases can become complex and more advanced treatments are necessary,” said Dr. Joshua Eisenberg, vascular surgeon and director of the Capital Health Heart and Vascular Institute.

When home treatment does not reduce symptoms, therapeutic treatments and advanced minimally invasive surgical procedures can be found at the Capital Health Vein Center, part of the Heart & Vascular Institute at Capital Health Medical Center – Hopewell.

“For most patients, spider veins and varicose veins are cosmetic concerns. For others, these conditions can lead to more serious medical problems, cause serious aching and affect their overall quality of life,” said Dr. Daniel J. Lee, vascular surgeon and director of the Vascular Laboratory and Wound Care Center at Capital Health Heart and Vascular Institute.
