Dialing 3 Numbers Can Save a Life
When you or someone you know is experiencing symptoms of a heart attack, dial 9-1-1. This sounds simple to some but many people hesitate.
“When I’m out in the community, people tell me they don’t call 9-1-1 because they’re scared to bother us. I always tell them, you’re not bothering us at all. It’s our job,” said Bil Rosen, clinical coordinator and mobile intensive care paramedic at Capital Health Emergency Medical Services.
Capital Health Medical Center – Hopewell is the first, and only, hospital in the Mercer/Bucks County region to receive accreditation as a Chest Pain Center with PCI from the Society of Cardiovascular Patient Care.
“When you call 9-1-1, we arrive at your home or business and start testing right away instead of waiting to take you to the ER. We make sure that you get to the hospital safe and results are transmitted to our receiving hospitals so that staff is ready before you get there. This saves critical time, especially when you’re having a heart attack and every minute counts,” said Rosen. ”And, if it turns out you weren’t having a heart attack, it was our pleasure to serve your medical needs.”
