Renown Endoscopist Joins Center, Provides Advanced Testing and Non-Surgical Treatment of Digestive Disorders
TRENTON, NJ—Capital Health today announced the opening of its new Center for Digestive Health, which will provide a comprehensive roster of state-of-the art diagnostics and treatments for a wide range of medical conditions involving the entire digestive system. Capital Health also announced the arrival of Dr. Jason Rogart as the Center’s director of Interventional Gastroenterology and Therapeutic Endoscopy.
“Our organization is committed to bringing to our region programs in advanced medical fields such as neurosciences and trauma that were previously unavailable in the Mercer/Bucks region. Prior to this, residents here had to travel to big cities like Philadelphia or New York City to find the specialist physicians and cutting edge technology to treat advanced conditions. Today, I’m very proud to announce the addition of digestive health to the growing list of academic-level programs that our neighbors now have available, right here in their community, at Capital Health,” said Al Maghazehe, president and CEO of Capital Health.
The Capital Health Center for Digestive Health provides advanced diagnosis and treatment of conditions including Barrett’s Esophagus, pancreatic and bile duct disorders, acid reflux disease (GERD), swallowing issues, hiatal hernia, peptic ulcer disease, pancreatitis, liver disease or failure, inflammatory bowel diseases such as Crohn’s and colitis, and cancers of the esophagus, stomach, liver, pancreas, small bowel and colon.
The Center is led by Medical Director Dr. Armen Simonian, a board certified gastroenterologist who provides comprehensive diagnosis and treatment of benign and malignant disorders of the digestive tract and helps guide referring physicians and their patients to the appropriate advanced digestive health tests and treatments available at the Center. Dr. Simonian completed his internship and residency at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital. He completed his fellowship in Gastroenterology at Cooper Hospital University Medical Center. He has been the section chief of Gastroenterology at Capital Health for the last eight years.
“The Center’s main goal is to provide patients and referring physicians with access to a multi-disciplinary team of highly trained physicians who specialize specifically in digestive health disorders and utilize cutting-edge technology to deliver advanced medical care all in one convenient location,” said Dr. Simonian.
The Center will be located in the brand new Capital Health Medical Center – Hopewell later this fall, but the roster of highly experienced digestive health specialists is already available. The most recent addition to the Center is Dr. Jason Rogart, who has joined the staff to perform the latest and most advanced procedures for the testing and non-surgical treatment of digestive disorders and cancers. As an interventional gastroenterologist and therapeutic endoscopist, Dr. Rogart has advanced expertise in endoscopic ultrasound (EUS), endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP), endoscopic mucosal resection (EMR), radiofrequency ablation (BARRX), complex polypectomy, pseudocyst drainage, enteral stent placment, stricture dilation, and advanced endoscopic imaging.
Dr. Rogart, who is board certified in gastroenterology and internal medicine, received his medical degree from Brown Medical School and completed his internship and residency at Yale University in the Department of Internal Medicine at Yale-New Haven Hospital, where he was also Chief Resident. He completed his fellowship training in digestive diseases at Yale University/Yale-New Haven Hospital and subsequently was an Advanced Endoscopy fellow in the Division of Gastroenterology & Hepatology at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia, PA.
“Since I’ve worked with many of our area’s primary care physicians, gastroenterologists, and surgeons, I look forward to personally providing the same advanced procedures that they and their patients received from me in the past, but in a more accessible setting. I’m excited to be a part of the full complement of advanced services at the Capital Health Center for Digestive Health and making these services better available to patients and their physicians in the Central New Jersey region,” Dr. Rogart said.
In addition to Dr. Rogart, Dr. Francis Rosato, a respected gastrointestinal surgeon with fellowship training and renowned expertise in minimally invasive procedures, also recently joined the medical staff at Capital Health and launched Advanced Surgical Associates of New Jersey. He is the area’s only hepatobiliary surgeon who specializes in advanced laparoscopic procedures of the liver, pancreas, and bile ducts.
Prior to joining Capital Health, Dr. Rosato was on the staff at Jefferson University Hospital and Methodist Hospital, both in Philadelphia, PA.
