Trenton, NJ – Capital Health announced that Tony Hooper, Senior Vice President, Commercial Operations, and President, U.S., Japan and Intercontinental, at Bristol-Myers Squibb has joined the health system’s board of directors.
“Mr. Hooper is a rare type of executive,” said Al Maghazehe, CEO and President of Capital Health. “He demonstrates an interest, follows through, and then takes action to help. His vision and leadership are qualities valued on any board of directors, and we are honored that he is choosing to use them to help move our health system forward during this exciting time.”
In his role at Bristol-Myers Squibb, Mr. Hooper leads the company’s pharmaceutical businesses in the U.S., Latin America, Middle East, Africa, Canada, Japan and several countries in the Pacific Rim. “Thanks to the leadership of Al Maghazehe, and the board of directors, Capital Health is growing in size and reputation,” said Mr. Hooper. “I am always encouraging my employees to keep the patient at the center of everything they do, and that is the thinking I will continue to promote as a board member at Capital Health. I am excited by the organization’s promise and the exciting things on the horizon for this health system, and I look forward to being a part of it.”
“This is an historic time for Capital Health,” said Samuel J. Plumeri, Jr., chairman, Capital Health Board of Directors. “With our new hospital well underway in Hopewell, exciting services such as our Stroke and Cerebrovascular Center of NJ that serves patients throughout the region, and extensive renovations taking place at our Regional Medical Center in Trenton, we are indeed moving in an exciting direction. The addition of Mr. Hooper to our board is another great ‘mind advancing medicine’ as we shape the hospital’s future and in turn, help shape healthcare for our region.”
In 2009, Mr. Hooper was chairman of the board for the National Pharmaceutical Council and now serves as a board member. Mr. Hooper serves on the executive boards of the American Heart Association (AHA) of Mercer County, the Health Institute of New Jersey, American Institute of Stuttering and Impact Young Lives Foundation.
