The Orthopaedic Department at Capital Health provides a full continuum of services, from pre-admission through your hospital stay to after-discharge follow-up. The department is staffed by healthcare professionals trained in the care of orthopaedic patients.
As the first Mercer County hospital to perform total hip and total knee joint replacement surgery, Capital Health has more than 20 years of experience getting patients back on their feet.
Capital Health is dedicated to the treatment and recovery of patients receiving total joint replacement surgery. Approximately 200 total joint replacement surgeries are performed at Capital Health each year.

Total Joint Replacement
Capital Health was the first hospital in Mercer County to offer total joint replacements beginning in 1976. Since that time, we have performed more total joint replacements than any other hospital in the area. Capital Health-affiliated surgeons have over 20 years experience and are dedicated to the treatment and recovery of patients receiving total joint replacement surgery.
Our program is dedicated to providing you the best possible outcome for total joint replacement and getting you back on your feet and returning to the activities you enjoy. Approximately 200 joint replacements are performed annually at Capital Health.

Arthroscopic surgery
Arthroscopic surgery is a procedure that allows the surgeons to visualize inside the knee, shoulder, and ankle with minimal incisions. Using the latest state-of-the-art equipment, our orthopaedic surgeons are able to make accurate diagnoses and repairs to help return you to your optimal function.
All our orthopaedic surgeons are specially trained in arthroscopic surgery and have years of experience. In the past year alone, they have performed over 600 procedures.
Back and Spine Surgery
Spinal care is an important and highly technical skill. Our fellowship trained orthopaedic surgeons at Capital Health, specializes in the care and special procedures of the spine. They utilize only the finest equipment and our operating room nurses are trained in the care of this equipment so that you have the best outcome possible.
Our surgeons maintain and update their skills to bring you the latest in spinal surgical advances, such as the IDET procedure (intradiscal electrotherapy).

Hand and Foot Surgery
Our hand services range from repair of traumatic injury to assessment and repair of trigger finer and carpel tunnel syndrome. Our occupational therapists are certified in rehabilitation of the hand, so for those who suffer from arthritis to injury rehabilitation the team at Capital Health will assist you in getting you back to your daily living activities.
Our surgeons are skilled in reconstructive foot procedures, arthroscopy of the ankle and have a referral base to podiatrists and plastic surgeons on the Capital Heath team that will coordinate to get you back on your feet.
Orthopaedic Trauma
Orthopaedic trauma services are provided at our Capital Health Regional Medical Center - Mercer County's only designated level II trauma center. Our surgeons provide you and your loved ones with expert care following a fall, fracture, or sports-related injury.
In addition to trauma, our surgeons are trained in all aspects of orthpaedic care including joint replacements, arthroscopic surgery and post-traumatic reconstructive surgery.
