Joseph E. Sherrill II, MD, FACS

Dr. Sherrill joined the Capital Institute for Neurosciences at Capital Health and its Center for Spinal Disorders from Portland, Oregon where he was in private practice at Pacific Surgical and a staff physician at Legacy Emanuel Hospital, a Level I Trauma Center.
A board certified neurological surgeon, Dr. Sherrill received advanced training in spinal surgery and has special focus in serious complex spine cases. Dr. Sherrill earned his medical degree from the Saint Louis University School of Medicine with clinical honors in surgery. He went on to complete his Neurosurgery residency at the Saint Louis University Health Sciences Center after internship. Dr. Sherrill was an Associate Professor of Neurosurgery at Saint Louis University where he was on staff for nine years
A current Commander in the United States Naval Reserve Medical Corps and Captain in the U.S. Navy Reserve, Dr. Sherrill is a recipient of the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal as well as the Army Commendation Medal. Dr. Sherrill served as Theatre neurosurgeon in Germany at Landstuhl Regional Medical Center, the largest American military hospital outside of the United States.
Dr. Sherrill is a member of the American Association of Neurological Surgeons, and the Association of Military Surgeons of the United States, and is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, the Association of Military Surgeons of the United States, and the American Medical Association.
