Ricardo A. Cruciani, MD, PhD

Dr. Ricardo Cruciani is a board certified neurologist and pain management specialist. He joined Capital Health from Beth Israel Medical Center in New York where he was Vice-Chairman for the Department of Pain Medicine and Palliative Care, and Chief, Pain Division, Department of Pain Medicine and Palliative Care. Dr. Cruciani was also Director of the Center for Non-Invasive Brain Stimulation of New York.
Dr. Cruciani was on the faculty of the Albert Einstein College of Medicine as a Professor of both Clinical Neurology and Clinical Anesthesiology. He has a PhD in pharmacology and completed a fellowship in pain management at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center. Dr. Cruciani was a resident in the Departments of Neurology and Psychiatry at Cornell University and the Department of Neurology at Albert Einstein Medical College.
Dr. Cruciani was a fellow and later an associate researcher at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) after completing his medical degree at the University of Buenos Aires School of Medicine. A noted researcher, Dr. Cruciani has received research grants from both the NIH and the National Cancer Institute and has participated in NIH study sections.
Widely published in peer reviewed journals and book chapters, Dr. Cruciani is on the editorial board of the Journal of Pain and Symptom Management as well as the World Journal of Gastroenterology and Pain and Therapy. Dr. Cruciani is invited to lecture both nationally and internationally on pain management topics including neuropathic pain and opioids, among many others.
Dr. Cruciani served as clinical chair and as member of the board of directors for the American Pain Society, having also served on the Society’s Scientific Program Committee. He is also President of the Eastern Pain Association.
