Chairman, Global Pharmaceutical Services, LLC
Raman Kapur took voluntary early retirement from Schering-Plough Corporation to establish Global Pharmaceutical Services, LLC. At Schering, Mr. Kapur served as president of Warrick Pharmaceuticals, U.S.A. and president of the Worldwide Generics business of Schering-Plough Corporation. In addition, Mr. Kapur was also responsible for selected non-core branded products for the U.S. market. These products were promoted to selected specialist audiences and prolific primary care physicians by a contract field force.
Mr. Kapur presently serves as chairman of Global Pharmaceutical Services (GPS), a marketing, planning and services company with special expertise in trade relationships and patient services. GPS was established in 2005 by former senior executives of Schering-Plough Corporation who have long-established relationships with executives at all levels within the chain industry as well as regional and national pharmaceutical wholesalers.
Mr. Kapur joined Schering-Plough as a financial analyst in 1975 serving in progressively more responsible finance, marketing and general management positions in the U.S. and internationally in Europe, Middle East, India and Latin America. Before taking over as president of Worldwide Generics for Schering’s human pharmaceutical business, he served as president of Schering-Plough’s worldwide animal health business.
Following graduation from Phillips Exeter Academy in Exeter, N.H., Mr. Kapur received a Bachelor of Arts in economics from Columbia College, N.Y. and a MBA in finance and international business from Columbia University, N.Y.
Mr. Kapur’s external interests cover health care, education and social and economic development in developing economies. Mr. Kapur serves as chairman of the World-India Diabetes Foundation, on the board of trustees of the Princeton Area Community Foundation, the international supervisory board of the Center for Advanced Study of India at the University of Pennsylvania, and the board of the Central Jersey Chapter of the American Cancer Society. He has also served on the board of directors of the European Generic Association in Brussels, Belgium, as well as the Generic Pharmaceutical Association in Washington, D.C.
Mr. Kapur is married to Vinita Kapur, who is engaged in architecture design and received her Ph.D. in architecture from the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. The family resides in Princeton, N.J.
