Julie A. Karns
Vice President for Finance & Treasurer, Rider University
Julie Karns has been vice president for Finance and treasurer at Rider University since 1994. She serves as a member of the President's Cabinet, with responsibility for Rider's financial and legal affairs, facilities management, auxiliary services and information technologies. Ms. Karns is also responsible for management of the University's human resources functions, including recruitment, staff development, compensation and benefits, and labor relations.
Ms. Karns previously served on the Board of the Eastern Association of College and University Business Officers (EACUBO) and currently chairs EACUBO's New Jersey Area Programming Council. She has also represented Rider on the National Association of College and University Business Officer's Comprehensive and Doctoral Institutions Council and regularly serves as a Middle States Commission on Higher Education accreditation team member.
Prior to joining Rider, Ms. Karns served as vice president for Finance and Administration at Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, New York. She began her career in public accounting, with KPMG Peat Marwick. An alumna of Transylvania University in Lexington, Kentucky, she is a certified public accountant.
