As vice president and chief administrative officer (CAO) for Capital Health Medical Group, Arlene Walsh leads the operational and administrative aspects of the medical group. In this role, she oversees program development, business operations, and recruitment for the medical group.
Prior to her appointment as CAO for the medical group, Arlene was a vice president and also Associate Chief Nursing Officer for Capital Health. In these roles, she helped develop the Capital Institute for Neurosciences, its research program, and the establishment of the hospital’s dedicated neurosurgical intensive care unit. In addition, she was responsible for clinical and administrative supervision of physician practices, and was responsible for supervising nursing leadership and management personnel, mid-level providers and employed physicians. She also oversaw the development of various specialty surgery service lines for the healthcare system.
Walsh received her Master of Science in Administration from Central Michigan University and her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from The College of New Jersey where she graduated magna cum laude. She first joined Capital Health as a labor and delivery nurse and after a brief time at Henry J. Austin Health Center in Trenton, Walsh rejoined Capital Health as nurse manager for Maternity which was followed by roles as director of Obstetrical Services and then divisional director of Patient Services, Maternal Child Health and Perioperative Services before assuming her more recent management positions.
